welcome

The picturesque village of Stanton Harcourt dates from around the 9th Century i.e before we invented America.

Much of the original features at the Arms - flagstones, fireplaces, bacon cupboard & force pump are still in situ although the bar layout & restaurant are fairly new, in so far as they have been recently updated/modernised/etc at varying stages during the last hundred years.

The Arms is a grade 2 listed building with a reputation of a having a ghost, but then again what pub these days doesn’t ?!
Now we’re in the 21st Century & we like to think we’ve got a beautiful old building with a cracking menu, service to match, big garden for the summer, plenty of parking & a wonderful selection of wines & traditional beers.

Derek likes to keep a good selection of ales with at least two session beers; Blacksheep & Adnams always on with guest ales (some staying longer than others!) including Brakspear, Hobgoblin, Broadside, Cornish, Ruddles, 6X & many more. Jo looks after the wine side of things with some excellent ‘House’ wines & New World stuff.
Our menus try to encompass all that is good about traditional British cooking but we can’t help throwing in a few dishes and/or ingredients that are obviously international in their origins, so do bear with us, with any slightly misspelled words. We also like to source local produce wherever possible & buy naturally grown foodstuffs where practicable.
